A Trip to Sheringham
Posted in: The Blog
Yesterday, as the house wanted service users out of the house for the afternoon, so workers could work on the kitchen (One staff said it was to pump out sewage). Originally, they planned a trip to Hunstanton, but I pointed out that location is full of tourist traps and that Sheringham would be more suitable, even if further away.
We set off at 12:20pm, 20 minutes late and the journey took around 2 hours 24 minutes. Passing though the fens (which has plenty of pretty sights, but I forgot to take any pictures of that). We parked near the beach and I and a staff member went down the promenade, past the Fishermen’s Heritage Centre and exited at the High Street.
We went around the central area of Sheringham (mostly visiting charity shops) and went for some food at The Sheringham Trawler (I had two battered burgers with cheesy chips). My first time in a while eating at a chip shop that fries using Beef Dripping.
The cheese chips tasted fantastic, even if there was too much cheese and the burgers tasted far better by not being fried with seed oil as the beef dripping intensified the “beef” flavour.
That chip shop employees are polite. Maybe too polite as they tried going into how hungry I must have been for wanting two battered burgers.
Ate them, sitting on the wall outside “The Two Lifeboats”, looking out to sea.
We then went back to the car with a portion of chips for another service user (with their chips) before exploring the town with them for around an hour before returning to the car and heading home.
A lovely town to return to, even if the car journey is long. Almost everyone is polite (unlike Cambridgeshire), the buildings are mostly beautiful. Though, I wouldn’t go during the summer holidays or weekends as Sheringham is packed with people then.
