Autism Screening at Cineworld
Posted in: The Blog
Last Sunday, I went to the local Autism screening of Kung Fu Panda 4 at the local Cinema. Upon arriving at the cinema, I found that the screening was completely empty (apart from me and a support worker).
The screen itself was dim and the lighting was left on the same as before the movie started (no dimming). However, one accommodation that Cineworld failed hard at was the promise of the movie playing at a lower volume.
For the first hour of Kung Fu Panda 4, I had to wear my noise canceling headphones as the movie was extremely loud. They did seem to put some kind of limiter on in the last 30 minutes but still louder than needed and it brickwalled the audio, causing distortion.
Not fantastic for something meant to be “Autism Friendly.”
